The band was founded by the drummer and guitar player Kirill Mussinski in 2013.

Illumination went through a number of line-up and concept changes and by today it has transformed into a collaborative live/studio project.

For several years Illumination existed as a local Berlin band playing mostly in local venues and festivals. The band released an EP album 'Anotherclash Illumination' in 2016. Soon after the release musicians decided to take a pause which eventually led to another line-up change.

Illumination was relaunched in 2018 with the core of the band consisting of Kirill Mussinski and Lorenzo Pagano. The new album 'Land of July' was recorded mainly by two of them but it also features some great guest musicians.

The musical style of the band may slightly vary from song to song and it doesn't necessary stick to a certain genre.
Roughly: the style is what we find interesting at the moment.
